I worked as a volunteer during the very first Maker Faire Bay Area in 2006, and I haven’t missed one since! It was exhilarating, and exhausting all at the same time. In between working my shifts at the Maker Check-In, I met Suzy Pakhchyan, of Fashioning Technology, and stitched my very first soft circuit.
Since then, I’ve witnessed some of the most amazing art, including the Crude Awaking from Burning Man (which is the mass of flame in the photo above). I even got to pop hydrogen bubbles. No, seriously, I used an arc of electricity to burst gas bubbles into fireballs of awesomness.
As a volunteer, at Maker Faire you get to be part of the team that creates this amazing spectacle. You might be taking over for a maker, working check-in like I did, or helping to hold down the information booth. Come prepared to get work hard and get involved with the most innovative people in the world. Beyond that, volunteers get free tickets! Maker Faire is a two-day, family-friendly event that celebrates the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset. It’s for creative, resourceful people of all ages and backgrounds who like to tinker and love to make things. So much to see, you will need 2 days to see it all!
Volunteer at Maker Faire for at least 4 hours and get a 1 Day pass to the Faire!
Volunteer at least 8 hours for a weekend Pass!
All volunteers get a Maker Faire T-shirt
We are also in need of core volunteers. Core volunteers are individuals that will be committing to more than 8 hours and can help manage certain areas, including the volunteer tent.
