I had an absolute blast volunteering at last summer’s Swap-O-Rama-Rama and am really looking forward to the next one, which will be happening in downtown L.A. during the next Felt Club craft fair on Sunday, November 16. Here’s the scoop:
There’s a new phenomenon sweeping the world called Swap-O-Rama-Rama. Founded by Wendy Tremayne, Swap is a clothing swap and series of DIY workshops in which participants explore creative reuse from recycled clothing. Basically, you bring a bag of clothes and they get sorted into piles by volunteers. You get to sort through all the clothes and work at the various DIY stations and sewing stations to create new clothes!
Our next Swap in Los Angeles will be November 16, 2008 at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles. This event will be in conjunction with a fantastic craft show, Felt Club. We are actively seeking volunteer designers and general volunteers for the event. Sewing machines and all supplies are provided. Please email us if you are interested or want more information. To stay in the loop about L.A. Swap, sign up for our newsletter.
Volunteering at Swap is a really great way to get involved in your local craft community, and have fun at the same time. E-mail Swap LA organizer Lori Petitti for the full scoop.
