I needed a clock for a top secret project (coming soon) so I decided to put together the LED Clock Kit from the Maker Shed. The LED clock is put together by twisting wires together and doesn’t require any soldering, which makes it an easy beginner electronics project. Since the box has a picture of a father and son making it on the cover, I decided to make my dad put it together with me over Thanksgiving.
The instructions involve pushing LEDs into the pre-cut holes and then twisting the LED leads together with leads from the power source. The clock took about two and a half hours to put together including a break to eat Thanksgiving leftovers. My dad was hesitant at first, but it ended up being a perfect father/daughter holiday activity. The best part was plugging in the clock for the first time and having it work perfectly.
LED Clock Kits available in blue and red are available in the Maker Shed.
