Calling All New England Makers: RI Mini Maker Faire October 11

RI Mini Maker Faire

The sixth annual Rhode Island Mini Maker Faire is just over a month away (October 11, 11am-6pm, downtown Providence, RI). Our call to makers is open: we’re looking for makers from inside and outside Rhode Island to show off their creations. Pictured above is Jeff Del Papa showing off his recumbent tricycle at the 2010 RI Mini Maker Faire. Jeff will be back this year with a giant coin flipper. (The coins are the size of manhole covers.)

Unlike previous years, this is the first Rhode Island Mini Maker Faire that’s going to be its own standalone event. It’s being put on in collaboration between AS220 and Revolution by Design. It’s going to be a great day in Providence; after the faire, you can check out Waterfire, which is scheduled to be a full lighting that night!

We’ve got more space then ever, too. Our current plan (subject to changes/approvals) is for principal sponsor Hasbro to host us in front of their downtown Providence office. From there, we’re aiming to line Adrian Hall Way with makers, and capping it off with a Beer Garden + Fab Lab in AS220’s 115 Empire Street space.

We hope you can join us! Check out this great street-scale Frogger from Tellart:

I'm a tinkerer and finally reached the point where I fix more things than I break. When I'm not tinkering, I'm probably editing a book for Maker Media.
