When I purchased my farm house 10 years ago, it was full of random furnishings from the previous two families who owned the house. These giant moose antlers were on the floor in one of the bedrooms. There was an attempt by someone to hang them on the wall, but the connection was simply some wire attached to the antlers. The antlers weigh about 75 pounds and needed a big strong plaque. Here you can see me figure out how to make the mount and hang them. I will now hang them in the house high on the wall. You can see a simple method to hang heavy stuff on a wall using what is often called a “French cleat”, two pieces of wood beveled into each other. I use a torch to burn the surface of the wood to raise the grain and make the wood appear to be aged. After the burn I used a wire brush to clean off the charred wood.
