Making a new dress? You might want to check the recycling bin and the 99 Cent store for materials first, like artist Robin Barcus Slonina did in her fantastic series called “States of Dress.”

Using materials that include, trash bags, feather dusters, sponges, beach balls, wiffle balls, poker chips, and plastic Easter eggs, Slonina manages to pull off some stunning results. I love how this work illustrates that creativity and tenacity can really trump access to materials and resources!
