Bubble Gum Dress Is Pink Down to the Circuit Board

While it’s not often talked about, many Makers wait until the last minute to finish their projects. It’s most likely because we are all simply extremely busy and fit making into any, and every, available moment.

During MakerCon we caught up with Anouk Wipprecht in the Maker Media Lab, who was furiously working to complete her latest work — the Bubble Gum Dress — in time for Maker Faire Bay Area.

Anouk’s creation unquestionably gets its name from the pink hue and inclusion of gum balls in the design. Tucked away within a fold of the cloth is circuitry which enables firing of the gum balls out of the dress.

In addition to discussing her new creation, Anouk shared some exciting news about a collaboration with Paul from PJRC, the maker of the popular Teensy board. Anouk and Paul have teamed up to offer a limited time pink Teensy 3.1. While it’s undetermined how limited this board will be, it will certainly add a splash of pink to any project.
