We’re gearing up for a special addition to the Makezine.com site called MAKE:audio. We still have some things to work out on the technical side, but here are the types of interviews with Makers, authors and all around interesting people you can expect…
Last weekend we interviewed Tim O’Reilly, founder of O’Reilly Media and Dale Dougherty, Editor and publisher of Make Magazine– insights and observations in the DIY culture from the past to the present and future.
The same weekend was the EFF’s (Electonic Frontier Foundation) "build-in" against the forthcoming broadcast flag, the group built High Definition Personal Video Recorders (PVRs) using the open source MythTV from the KnoppMyth Linux distribution and the pcHDTV HD-3000 HD card, which will only be legal to buy up until July of 2005 (tick tock!). We interviewed Wendy Seltzer, staff attorney for the EFF and chatted about what the broadcast flag is, why it’s not so good for a lot of people and what you can do about it, we also interviewed some of the folks building the boxes and talked about their setups.
We recorded all these on an iPod running Podzilla (above) we’ll show you our set up and some considerations when recording this way here and in the magazine.
As we line up folks to chat with, we’ll let you know here so you can post your questions ahead of time /. style.
We’re still working out the formats and length, so if you have something specifically you want to see, er, hear, let us know.
