MAKE’s 2013 Hardware Innovation Workshop is only a few days away and I’m really looking forward to the event, especially the “pitches with prototypes” contest. One of the entrants is Nicholas Stedman of Moti. He is trying to make robotics easy for “Designers, Developers & Devious Kids” with his Internet in a motor concept.

We think robotics is way more complex than it needs to be. With the right tools, more people will build cool new devices, and make all that sci-fi a reality. We take servo motors, add some smarts, and connect them to browsers. With Moti you can build a robot in minutes, and control it from your phone, tablet, or any computer.

The possibilities seem endless, especially if you were to give a few of these to a group of kids along with some markers, tape, and cardboard. You would have a robot army in a matter of minutes. Check out the video pitch they sent us for the Hardware Innovation Workshop’s prototype contest.

I think it’s a really interesting project and I’m looking forward to seeing it go to market. What do you think? Would you back their company? Let us know in the comments. And don’t forget to register for the MAKE Hardware Innovation Workshop, there are only a few days left.
