Custom Wood Ipod Case Although it may be a little bit more difficult to shove in your pocket than your standard case, designer Peter Kinne’s custom wooden iPod case will certainly draw some attention. Made from birch (and hopefully bamboo soon) and reclaimed stainless steel, Kinne’s case lends some “natural” aesthetic to your iPod. And, the interior is padded to prevent your iPod from getting shocked or scratched (anyone with an iPod will tell you how easy it is to do the latter). All-in-all, its a great way to protect your iPod without sacrificing clean design.
Video Game/Art Exhibition Ever wanted to play a video game against a tree? Yeah, me neither, but artist Dan Young’s newest project looks cool just the same. “Lumberjacked” and “Lumberjacked II” pit you as Jack the Lumberjack against a living tree outfitted with digital sensors. The tree’s natural movement are then translated into defensive moves for the “super tree” in the game. As the tree has more time, it produces more and more saplings for you to either track down and cut, or if you are a virtual treehugger, simply sit and enjoy.
Recycled Platic Bottle Lights Finally, we come to a product that is dear to my heart, both because I love robots and ridiculous product names: the “Solabeast”. The “Solabeast” is a relatively inexpensive solar-powered robot kit that as its name implies, looks (sort of) like a beast. For the young, it looks to be a great experience for the budding geek. However, I am sure “grown-up” geeks will enjoy it just the same, as the possibilities for modification are endless.
