Jane and our friends at Sugru sent us this video they put together for Father’s Day, showing how a few dads make use of their self-curing silicone rubber molding material. The video is basically an ad for Sugru, but I’m fascinated by this material and the humble uses to which it can be put. I’m always tickled by how significant a very simple hack or repair can feel — every time you interact with the object, you get a little kick knowing that you were responsible for that clever fix or improvement. Sugru sort of trades on that emotion, as you can see in this video.

We now carry Sugru in the Maker Shed. If you want to get some for your dad, you can get him a gift certificate to the Shed and send him a link to this video. And don’t forget our downloadable maker cards for dad.
