Living in Japan (and getting ready to move back to the US), I’ve collected and used many of Japan’s woodworking tools. The Japanese esthetic for keeping a more natural simple design is amazing and many people try to copy it but fall short every time. I’m in the process of building a rough sawn table using only Japanese Technique from Hinoke cedar. I won’t be able to get Hinoke in the US so I’ll probably be using American Cypress or Port Orfoard cedar to make my own Onsen.
I love in their “pilot training video” weapon systems that the Gatling gun is controlled by facial recognition software and smiling, AKA the “SmileShot”.
Well, I recently received a great 19 inch Digital TV, but the sound coming out of the in-built speaker was the worst I had ever heard. Mono box saved the day! Bought $12 parts and used a speaker salvaged from the old CRT recently deceased, along with a wall wart from a ancient modem, plugged into the earphone jack on the TV and wala, brilliant sound. Simple, cheap and a screeeeching saver for my ears. I left enough room on the board for a dual monobox design so the mono will be stereo. After all, there were two speakers and a stereo ear jack
Indeed, rope is my favorite fastener.
Working with rope is zero entry level; but, when you see someone who’s good at it, like a sailor, trucker, or an eagle scout, well, it’s just one of those old-timey skills that’s down-right amazing.
