I don’t know what the difference was back then but old steel and iron seems to last longer than modern stuff. I have found this working on old cars. Steel parts from the 20s and 30s are in remarkably good condition despite being left out in the elements for long periods of time. Perhaps it wasn’t as strong which is why everything from then is heavier?
Any missing bits, well I am sure Jimmy is more than capable of machining/casting his own replacements. Am looking forward to seeing the next part of this story.
On Google+, Bill Kuhl shared his friend’s foam glider build process:
My friend Slater Harrison aka ScienceToymaker has done some amazing tutorial videos on the building and operation of his projects. Slater is really into very lightweight model gliders that ride on a cushion of air. This video is a good example of him at work and how he approaches the challenges.
John, thanks for the article. I have been working on Esplora projects since Radio Shack started selling them after Christmas. First it was engineering the undocumented display header. I added an XBee via that, then figured out the pinout was compatible with the Adafruit display without mods. Then I used the wireless Esplora to control a robotic head. Then I looked for a compatible game and this is where R0d0t’s previous work with such a cool game made it a great candidate to port. The series of articles is on the same blog http://21stdigitalhome.blogspot.com/.
