I love an excuse for a party and I can’t think of a better one than a celebration of humankind’s first climb out of the gravity well. That would be April 12, 1961, when Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. The event is now celebrated throughout the world each year (on April 12th) with Yuri’s Night: World Space Party. Groovy, baby!
The goal is to throw at least 120 parties across the globe. Some 80 parties are already being planned. Check the site to see if there’s one in your area, and if not, there’s info on how you can host your own.
