This inexpensive kit has the power to turn sand into glass, burn holes through pavement, and totally demolish old hard drives. The kit consists of powdered aluminum and rust (which you mix in a 1-to-3 ratio) and a box of sparklers (to use as igniters). I used a postal scale to measure the chemicals and combined them in a terra cotta flowerpot, which was a messy process. I put the pot on top of a stack of old hard drives, stuck a sparkler in the powder, and wrapped some hair dryer wire around the sparkler so I could ignite it remotely. I touched the wires to a drill battery and, seconds later, was treated to a spectacular flame and a torrent of molten iron flowing onto the hard drives, rendering them completely useless. Best 20 bucks I ever spent.
