When I was younger, I used to hang out (not exactly by choice) at our family business and build robots from cardboard and packaging tape. They looked cool, but but didn’t really do anything unless I lit them on fire (which I usually did.) I always had dreams of building something more capable but didn’t really know where to begin.
This tutorial series from our friends over at EZ-Robot shows you how you can build your own robot using items from around the house (like cardboard boxes) and the EZ-Robot Complete Kit (available in the Maker Shed). The resulting “BoxBot” not only looks cute, it’s quite capable too. It’s a great way to get started in robotics and prepare you for bigger and better projects down the road.
Something tells me that if I’d had this back in the 90’s less bots would have gone up in flames…
