Another great knife that has seen me through thick and thin is the Gerber AR 3.00 BBS - Serrated Edge. You can find it at: http://www.gerberstore.com/index.php?xpage=itempage&xid=344Posted by MDPhys on May 25, 2005 at 19:27:55 Pacific Time

Went to Costco today and got a "Cold Heat" Soldering iron for $14.09 after taxes. Was like $15 something with $3 off instant rebate :)Posted by sasimpson@gmail.com on May 23, 2005 at 13:06:23 Pacific Time

I used Future recently to unscuff a very scuffed dial indicator crystal - it removed a lot of deeper scratches and sort of self levelled. It's not a substitute for a new crystal but it certainly is a cheap fix for a hard to read gauge.Posted by NickCarter on May 18, 2005 at 11:09:10 Pacific Time

MMC have been notoriously grudging in sending out their print catalogs in the past (maybe that's changed?) which hinders couch based mental prototyping. I tend to use MSC (www.mscdirect.com) which has a similarly huge (if not larger) catalog, 2nd day for the price of ground shipping, and frequent sales fliers. They also own ENCO (www.useenco.com) which is sort of in between MSC and Harbor Freight and often has very inexpensive sale items. Other good industrial suppliers are J&L, Travers, Rutland/Airgas.Posted by NickCarter on May 18, 2005 at 11:07:37 Pacific Time
