Re-create a mid-1970s video trip by plugging this box into any TV and audio source. Beneath the fake wood paneling, a Propeller microcontroller simulates Atari's classic music visualizer.

- Diode missing from components list?

I've got this project put together on the breadboard but I'm not getting video output. In troubleshooting I noticed a resistor and diode on pin 21 of the processor on the schematic but it is not displayed in any of the pictures. Which one is right? Also if we should be using a diode, which diode?
Thanks!

Hi, yes there is a resistor and diode (of the light emitting variety) that act as a power light for the unit. Check out this photo, which shows the LED attached to some ribbon cable. As you note this isn't pictured on the breadboard, but is pictured on the perfboard.
If you're having trouble with the video out, try going to the simple trv out the TV example included with the Propeller IDE. Start there and get it working with their code and pins, once that's confirmed move onto the PM3K schematic and code. Also check the parallax forums, they're active and helpful:

This looks really cool, but I'm from Germany. How would you build this for PAL?Posted by scotty74065 on June 26, 2008 at 05:40:59 Pacific Time
