Maker Faire is the world’s largest DIY festival, and you need to be there. If your budget is tight at the moment, don’t fret. You can volunteer to work just four hours at the Faire, and you’ll earn a free adult day pass. Volunteer for eight hours, and you’ll earn a free adult weekend pass and a Maker Faire t-shirt. Not only is volunteering a great way to get into the Faire for free, but it’s a perfect opportunity to work with some of the most fun, creative people you could ever hope to meet. There are volunteer opportunities with Swap-O-Rama-Rama, assisting the craft presenters, helping in the Maker Shed and more. For complete details on how you can volunteer and to sign up, visit the volunteer section of the Maker Faire web site.

I totally wish I could volunteer but we’re bringing our one-year-old down there and we live three hours away so it would be really cruel to abandon my husband at the fair! But we are going to be there so have fun all you volunteers!
