Book Review + Giveaway: The Earring Style Book

Craft & Design

Bookheader Earringstylebook

Jewelry Designer Stephanie Wells from Double Happiness Jewelry has a new book out called The Earring Style Book. Can I just say this book had me at hello? The cover image of these Rio earrings just captured me. Aren’t they gorge? Inspired by shattered glass, the beads are stacked straight. This is just one of the interesting techniques in the book which you can vary and create some amazing looks. Wells’ designs are favorites among top celebrites and fashion stylists and you can tell why just by browsing through the book. She starts of with jewelry basics from wrapping wire into her standard forms to detailed descriptions of various beads. You can make a simple pair of earrings in just a twenty minutes or in about an hour and a half, make the Rio earrings shown above. Throughout each section, Wells’ sparks your creativity with her mood board pages that are peppered with fashion photos, fabric swatches, beads, vintage letters and more. Pick up this book if you are looking for ways to stylishly up the ante in your jewelry crafting. As for me, I’m off to the bead store now.

For many years my lobes existence have been just boring, empty holes of nothingness.
Well, I am happy to report, I’ve decided in recent weeks, that this just had to change.

Needless to say… winning The Earring Style Book would help guarantee my lobes looked dressed up & pretty! What a great idea for a book! Seriously, I think it would be so fun to attempt to make some pretty earrings for myself, & with the holidays coming up… why not make gifts for my friends & family to! Good luck y’all :)

I work as the coordinator of a jewelry program in Managua, Nicaragua. We work with youth and families that live in and around La Chureca, the municipal trash dump. Through our program, students learn how to make jewelry and receive a portion of the profit for each piece sold. We have over 100 participants that once worked picking up garbage, and are now making jewelry!
We are always looking for new ideas and inspiration, and receiving a book like this would be very exciting for the teachers and students alike.
If you are interested in learning more about our program, visit http://www.fabretto.org
    Thank you!
PS– did I mention we have an office in DC? You wouldn’t even have to ship it internationally :)

  54. Dorion says:

I’d love this book because, after years of being able to wear any kind of shiny little junk earrings my heart desired, it became impossible for me to wear any. My lobes would just react so badly. After years of simply not wearing any, I started re-investigating what I COULD wear, and found some nice platinum ear wires that don’t seem to irritate me at all! This means I’ll be making all my OWN earrings, but that’s okay; I enjoy that more than shopping any time. :)
