Phillip Burgess posted a fantastic new guide to Adafruit’s Learning System. It walks you through how to make your own custom digital point-and-shoot camera. In addition to a Raspberry Pi, the project uses the official Raspberry Pi camera board, and a 320×240 TFT touchscreen. If you want to take it with you, you can also attach a battery pack and Wifi adapter. The software even allows you to to upload your photos directly to Dropbox!

Ever since I first saw David Mellis’ DIY cellphone, I’ve been wanting to use Raspberry Pi to make my own digital camera. This project looks like it would be a great start for me.
