Make your own Star Lord Helmet From Guardians Of The Galaxy

If you’ve just seen the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, you may have decided you need a Star Lord helmet. I haven’t seen it yet, but have to assume that this Star Lord isn’t too concerned about getting blasted (or rapidly decompressed) on the top of his head.

These concerns aside, Youtuber “AlwaysTimsTime” actually made his own model of this armored visor helmet, and shows how to make it in his video below. Most of it is made of EVA foam (floor mat material) which is cut according to the pattern found here. There are also some tubes on the helmet made out of other varied materials, including a kabob stick, a Bic pen, and PVC pipe. All of it is apparently painted to match the original.

Model of the Helmet

Interestingly, a lot of this video focuses on the technique used to make the eyepieces. Like the rest of this build, its a real testament to some people’s creativity sourcing parts, as two see-through clipboards are combined to make the shade of red that was required. A Dremel tool is used to cut them out, and lines are scored on the plastic with a box cutter to make them look more authentic. If you have access to a CNC router or laser cutter, I could also see these being used to make plastic cutouts like this.
