Art is powerful. What better way to show this concept than by forever capturing a physical human fight in a 3D printed sculpture. Artist, Eyal Gever, has taken that form of power to his art. Myself along with Gever, see beauty within destruction. His art, including car crash simulations and numerous explosions slow down these brief moments in time where emotions tend to run high. In his piece, “3D Printed Kick”, Gever has created from impact to aftermath a stunning and honest work of art. Using his own motion capture software along with raw video footage his fluid and abstract idea came to life. To capture a high energy moment and create a completely idle piece of art from it is simply amazing.

If you have a hard time finding what is so captivating about Gever’s work, he explains why finding beauty in all of life’s experiences is an important life lesson.

“My ongoing body of works examines the relationship between the simulated events that I create and their physical manifestation. These sublime moments are borne out of simulations and translated as art…Beauty can come from the strangest of places, in the most horrific events. My art addresses these notions of destruction and beauty, the collisions of opposites, fear and attraction, seduction and betrayal, from the most tender brutalities to the most devastating sensitivities. I oscillate between these opposites.”

The world of 3D printing keeps expanding and will be one of the biggest technological advancements for the future of our race. The unimaginable will become reality as moments like Gever’s have already taken place. What is your opinion on his work and 3D printing? Share your thoughts on the 3D Printed Kick Forum
