The buzz about this year’s Maker Faire Bay Area is that a sweet, bee-themed art car called Apis Inlusio will be there. Lovingly built by a group of self-taught Burning Man veterans appropriately known as BeeCharge Camp, the Apis Inlusio combines the kind of whimsical inspiration and impressive ingenuity that epitomizes the spirit of Maker Faire!

Meaning “bee illusion” in Latin, the Apis Inlusio is made from a Chevy S-10 pickup truck chassis and features re-engineered driving controls to allow for steering from above the bee’s head. It’s also outfitted with a ~12,000W sound system and LED eyes, not to mention fireball-launching antennae!

All 11×11×26 feet of Apis Inlusio will be tooling around Maker Faire, so if you’d like to see it in all it’s beemusing glory, then you’d better bee there or bee square!
