Battle of Hoth Recreated on Gaming Table for Salute 2015

The team over at the popular wargaming portal Beasts of War has been putting together a magnificent Battle of Hoth gaming table for this weekend’s Salute 2015 (the massive U.K. gaming convention). They ran a contest to create a set of game rules for the board and are bringing the winner, Grant Ennis, to Salute to run the game he designed. I’ve seen a number of Battle of Hoth boards over the years and this one is by far my favorite.

Because they need to travel from Ireland to London with the board, they had to make it all modular. So, it’s basically a white mat with carved Styrofoam sections that sit on the mat. For the miniatures and terrain, they’re using a mixture of gaming minis, Star Wars toys, and terrain pieces from other gaming systems. The results are quite impressive.

Beasts of War also has a lot more info and videos for their “Backstage” (paid subscription) members. And the team will be live-blogging Salute this weekend and will likely have lots of Battle of Hoth game coverage then.
