Have you ever seen a cardboard dinosaur dancing with a 12-foot-tall marching dixie band? Well, if you come to a Maker Faire, that’s exactly the kind of stuff you see.

The World Maker Faire at the New York Hall of Science kicked off with a jubilant display of whimsy. Dancing cardboard dinosaurs and towering marching bands serenaded the crowds leading up to the gates opening. Attendees would soon find that this peculiar and wonderful mix is par for the course at Maker Faire.

Not everyone can attend, and even if you do attend the event, there’s no possible way to see all the amazing things that happen here. You may be watching a mechanical horse gallop in place, while at the other end of the Faire, the police are racing their kooky vehicles on our racetrack.
