Love the Matchstick Meccano...but what's a valve tube?

"Cycle valve tube", the cool rubber tubing Mr. Gupta uses in his matchstick creations doesn't seem to have a common equivalent in my home town. Does anyone have suggestions for similarly available and cheap equivalents? Maybe my google-fu is just failing me, or it's a translation issue?
