If you’re looking for a crafty project to do this weekend, why not try block printing? I am so in love with the linocut work of Andrea Lauren. Her multi color prints really show off her skill in this medium, and her designs are just so lovely– I want to buy them all. Be sure to check out her site for even more of her gorgeous work.

Linocutting is a fairly inexpensive art form to get into, relatively speaking. All you need is the linoleum (I suggest using the soft stuff as a beginner), a carving tool (with multiple tips), some block printing ink and a rubber brayer. There are some great starter kits out there too that take the guess work out of what to buy. Lastly, you’ll want some paper to print onto of course! Cheap printer paper is just fine to start with, and later when you get the hang of it, you may want to invest in a heavier stock paper.
