Wendy Tremayne at Holy Scrap Hot Springs (in Truth or Consequences, NM) teaches us how to make easy cheap wine in this video. I’m sure you could fancy up the recipe with some gourmet grape juice if you wanted to experiment!

Is it just me or does this sound really gross? Making wine from a kit with all the proper equipment can be a disaster… Canned grape juice wine sounds like something you would make as a high school experiment.
did it work? and this may be a dumb question, but how do you sterilize the big jug? and the rest of the utensils for that matter?
You can sterilize your tools and vessels by soaking them in an iodine solution, available at your local brewing store. Follow the directions on the bottle. Boiling those things you can works, too.
bekathwia: thanks for the sterilizing advice :)
soaking in alcohol for seven minutes sterilizes as well as using a solution of 1/4 ounce bleach per gallon of water. i usually use more though.
both of these methods leave much less of an after taste
Er, it’s sanitize, not sterilize.
I use bleach and water in my homebrewing. To sanitize the jug, fill it with water and add some bleach, then let sit for a bit. You can then pour this out into a bucket or something with your other tools and sanitize them. Make sure to rinse thoroughly after using bleach.
