EFF PVR build-inLast weekend I attended the EFF’s (Electronic Frontier Foundation) "build-in" against the forthcoming broadcast flag, the group built High Definition Personal Video Recorders (PVRs) using the open source MythTV from the KnoppMyth Linux distribution and the pcHDTV HD-3000 HD card, which will only be legal to buy up until July of 2005. I’m writing about all this for the next issue, but here some pictures I took.

howtoonIn the first issue of Make on pages 172 and 173 we have a very cool cartoon from Howtoons.com, if you’ve never heard of Howtoons go check them out now. And speaking of toons–This weekend I’m going to drop in on the Emerald City ComicCon in Seattle, WA. Vintage Resistor Earrings

David Petrides writes in about Charlotte of “Earrings 101” and her vintage resistor earrings, made into the stamen of flowers, terminated with Swarovski crystals. More subtle than the resistor earrings I’ve seen before, these would make a great addition to any classy electronics lady’s collection. – Link.
