We’re stamping our hands into little gobbling turkeys as we craft a fun mason jar topper. These Thanksgiving jars are a great way to get the kids involved during the season, as well as creating a fun handmade gift.
8X8 Square piece of fabric, lighter colors are best
Acrylic paint in brown, red, yellow, orange
Foam paint brush
Thin paint brush
Felt tip pen
Step 1: Paint your child’s hand brown using the foam paint brush. Stamp their hand down on the fabric, making sure to be careful to only stamp in one spot. Press each finger down firmly to make sure every area is stamped. Then, slowly lift the painted hand off the fabric.
Step 2: Using your thin paint brush, paint on orange legs and a beak and a red gobbler above its nose.
Step 3: For a little more flare, we brushed on some red and yellow paint for feathers. We also added the words “gooble gooble” to the fabric using our felt tip pen.
Step 4: While your paint is drying, fill your mason jar with whatever treat or goodies you’d like. I filled my with a fun Thanksgiving trail mix, as well as some cranberry muffin mix from a box.
Step 5: Add your lid to your mason jar, then cut your ribbon to length and tie it around your mason jar and the fabric. I also added in the directions on to my ribbon for the muffin mix.
Step 6: Now it’s ready to give. This jar of mix is going to my aunt and uncle who are hosting us for Thanksgiving dinner!
