Mitch Altman’s Hacker Trip to Egypt

Mitch Altman’s Hacker Trip to Egypt

I got back from Cairo last Friday. I’m still somewhat exhausted, but definitely glowing from the experience. The main purpose for this trip was to set up a three-day hackerspace at Maker Faire Africa, which was held in Cairo this year. As you can imagine, it was an exciting time to be in Egypt! Lots of high hopes in the wake of the “Freedom Revolution.” Plus, lots of attempts by a still-ruling-military to divide-and-rule.

CRAFT Featured on the News

I was asked by Fox & Friends to come on their show and do a segment about last minute DIY Halloween costumes on Sunday. It was a CRAFT-centric day as our own Haley modeled a vintage stewardess/Pan Am costume, and our own Eggs and Bacon costume took center stage on Gracie and my friend Dejon. It was a really fun day! If you weren’t up at the crack-of-Dawn, here is a clip!

Colorful Beaded Skulls

Colorful Beaded Skulls

Our own Andrew Salomone spotted this beautiful skull, one of eight in a limited edition called “Our Exquisite Corpse” sold through a trendy London boutique. Seed-beaded art objects like this are commonly identified with the Native American Huichol people of western central Mexico, though the style is dubiously “traditional.”
