In today’s culture of disposable fashion, the simple art of basic darning and mending has been all but forgotten. But, thanks to a recent question from my BFF about fixing a hole in a garment, I stumbled upon this neat post on The Coletterie that features a few instructive pages on darning and mending techniques that were issued by the British government during their Make Do and Mend campaign during World War II. As a maker of many of my own items of clothing, these are definitely still skills that are relevant to me, and I thought that my fellow stitchers and crafters might appreciate them too!
