As a crafter who has only dipped her toe into the world of quilting, I was excited to see this book land on my desk the other day. 1, 2, 3 Quilt, by Ellen Luckett Baker of The Long Thread, is a collection of 24 projects that are designed to hone your quilting skills. The chapters are organized by shape, “the essential design element of any quilt,” Baker writes.
The combination of gorgeous photography and spot-on fabric colors/patterns makes every project appealing. Take a look:

I’ve taken one quilting class and while I feel confident I can complete the small project from memory, doing so from a written source is intimidating. I’ve got a stack of my boys’ old jeans that I want to make into quilts for them when they head off to college but I need something that tells me how to do something amazing with it, and in simple terms that I can actually understand. LOL!
