Cats in hats? It’s such a delightful combination of weird and adorable that it’s nearly impossible to resist.
Turn your kitty into a ferocious DIY dinosaur or super-cute fiber fox with these knitting and crochet cat hat patterns!
Intrigued? Much to the delight of crafty cat ladies and dudes everywhere, Sara Thomas of Scooter Knits has written an entire book devoted to the subject, Cats in Hats! Even better: She’s shared a few teaser patterns to get you started!
If you head on over to Lion Brand Yarn, you can find the patterns for both a knitted dinosaur hat and a crocheted fox hat to make for your feline friends. (Fair warning: You’ll need to sign up for a free account to get the patterns.)
Now, I’m sure this goes without saying, but just in case:
Don’t traumatize your kitty by making it wear a hat if doing so will scare her/him. Cats who don’t want to wear hats shouldn’t be made to wear them, because that’s just mean, and being mean to animals is never acceptable. Along the same lines, if you don’t like the idea of putting hats on cats, this project clearly isn’t for you, and you should definitely not make a hat for your own cat. Okay? Okay.
