Core77, the internationally recognized online design site, is hosting their illustrious annual Core77 Design Awards and the deadline for entries is coming right up on March 15. From their site:

Recognizing excellence in all areas of design enterprise, the Core77 Design Awards celebrates the richness of the design profession and its practitioners. We present 17 categories of entry, providing designers, researchers and writers a unique opportunity to communicate the intent, rigor and passion behind their efforts. From client work to self-initiated projects, entrepreneurial to pro-bono engagements, we embrace a wide diversity of enterprise: commercial, cultural, social, environmental and discursive.

Both the Professional and Student Winners of each category will receive the C77DA trophy, and all Honorees will be published in the Awards Gallery, across the Core77 online network. Be part of the most inclusive and celebratory design awards platform of the digital age.

Categories include Consumer Products, Equipment, Soft Goods, Furniture & Lighting, Interiors, Visual Communication, Packaging, Interaction, Service, Transportation, Social Impact, Education Initiatives, Strategy & Research, Writing & Commentary, Speculative, Food Design, and of course our favorite, DIY. This year, I was honored to be selected as the Jury Captain for the DIY category and I’ve put together a creative team of local, talented folks to be on the DIY jury with me. Show us what you make!

Last year the DIY jury was headed by Becky Stern (yay Becky!). Check out winners from last year’s DIY category and watch the video the team made explaining why they chose who they did. Pictured above is the winner from 2012, Brian Chan’s Laser-Cut Folding Ukelele Kit.

All the details you need about the contest and how to enter are on the Core77 site. Best of luck!

I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.
