Attention tech gals: Show off your circuit sewing prowess with this LED twinkle hair bow tutorial from our pal Becky over at Adafruit!

You can watch the video tutorial here, then head over to Adafruit to check out the full step-by-step tutorial with photos.

Make a twinkling accent for your updo! This tutorial will teach you to make a ribbon bow and simple LED circuit. One Adafruit LED Sewing Kit has enough supplies for two bows, so make this project with a friend! The included LEDs contain a tiny chip that flickers the LEDs to simulate a candle’s glow, so all we have to do is power them up!

When it comes to accessories, I’m always drawn to the details, and I’m absolutely loving the rainbow ribbon cable around the center of the big gray bow! (Hooray for wire as ribbon!)

Never sewn a circuit before? Have no fear! There are resources linked in the tutorial, and Adafruit sells an LED sewing kit with everything you need to get started. And, as someone who’s sewn circuits with Becky’s LED kits in the past, I can definitely report that it’s totally doable, even if you’re brand new to the world of wearable tech.

Ready to make your own? Get thee to Adafruit!
