Yesterday, I had the chance to see crafty pal Luke Haynes’ quilt show, The American Context: A New Look at Quilts, at the Eli Alexander Gallery right here in NYC.
I’d seen photos of his quilts before, but in person, the beauty, the attention to detail, and the sheer scale of his projects is really quite staggering. To give you a taste of level of skill we’re talking about, here are a few photos from the gallery. Since Luke gave me the tour himself, I even got to take a peek at the backs of some of the quilts!
If you’re in the Pacific Northwest and want to see his quilts in person, he will have pieces on display at the Foster/White Gallery in Seattle, WA in September and at the Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, WA in October. Otherwise, you can check out more photos of his work—including pieces from the American Context show— on his website.
