Wow – each Handmade Music Night is turning out to be its own unique experience. Last night at 3rd Ward the event featured an excellent performance by Electric Junkyard Gamelan. Terry Dame, the group’s instrument maker, uses a wide variety of creative inventions to give the band its unique sound and presence. Clay pots, rubber bands, hangers, and various pots & pans never sounded so good – seriously awesome stuff. See more pics from the show in the Flickr set.
I brought along some Arduino Pocket Pianos and had a lot of fun improv-synthing with interested attendees. We checked out some hacked Pocket Piano sketches I’d brought along and talked about Arduino/sound/music at length. Thanks to everyone for hanging out, chatting and making music! We’ve already got some good stuff in the works for the next Handmade – so stay tuned.
