New in the Maker Shed – Bare Conductive Paint and Kits

When I was a kid, I remember drawing lines on paper and saying they were the schematics for a robot. Of course I had no real concept of circuitry or electronics at that age, but it was cool to think I did. Now what if I’d given some Bare Conductive Paint to 6 year old me? Well, I probably would have made a huge mess (I was a messy kid) but with a little instruction I’d be able to paint an actual working circuit, just like the flashing robot in the picture. That’s what I love about Bare Conductive products, they let you “draw” wires making electronics tangible and accessible to everyone. Plus, if 6 year old me decided the paint looked appetizing (I wouldn’t put it past 6 year old me) it’s completely non-toxic so I wouldn’t be damaged (any more than I already am.)

We originally debuted Bare Conductive products in the Maker Shed at Maker Faire New York. If you attended, you may have noticed the amazing samples the team at Bare created for us. Now, we’re proud to offer their products on the Maker Shed online. We carry the Bare Conductive Paint in two different formats, a 50ml “pot” which can be used with a brush, or in a 10ml “paint pen” format that makes it really easy to use. Whichever version you choose, the paint works the same; You just paint, screen print, squeeze, or spray it onto paper, textiles, walls, wood, and most plastics to create conductive traces.

In addition to the paint, we also carry a light-up House Kit and a 3pc Card Kit so you can get all the components you need to do a project in one package. Although the house kit is a bit more involved, either kit is a great first introduction into making.

Feeling inspired? There are plenty of tutorials on Bare Conductive’s website including how to make Jack-o-Lanterns, snowflakes, proximity sensors, and more. Also, this week only, we’re offering special introductory pricing on Bare Conductive products in the Maker Shed. As if you needed another excuse to get some for 6 year old you.

I am the Evangelist for the Maker Shed. It seems that there is no limit to my making interests. I'm a tinkerer at heart and have a passion for solving problems and figuring out how things work. When not working for Make I can be found falling off my unicycle, running in adverse weather conditions, skiing down the nearest hill, restoring vintage motorcycles, or working on my car.
