If you’re anything like me, completing the stitching in an embroidery project isn’t the hard part, it’s the finishing—or preparing it for hanging or display—that seems much more daunting.
Finishing embroidery projects is one of those crafting topics that, if you were to ask a room filled with experienced stitchers how to do it, you’d get as many different right answers, opinions, and sworn-by techniques as there were people in attendance. (You’d get a similarly confusing array of responses if you asked knitters how to turn a heel on a sock.) So, I’ll say this right up front: This particular option isn’t the only right answer. In fact, it’s possible that it’s not the right answer for you at all, especially if you’re working on an heirloom piece, a piece that needs stretching or washing, or if you’re inclined to frequently swap out frames or change display approach.
