States of Dresses by Robin Barcus Slonia

Craft & Design

Erin of A Dress a Day points to the amazing dresses made by installation and performance artist Robin Barcus Slonia and her “States of Dresses”, a site-specific, interactive “dress” sculpture in each of the fifty states in the USA. Pictured left is the Casino Chip Dress photographed in Boulder, Nevada. The dress is made from over 2,000 casino chips!
I also like her Dollar Store Dresses exhibit featuring the Whiffle Ball Wedding Gown (made of whiffle balls and shower scrubbies) and the Sponge Dress (made of sponges, hot glue and velcro).
