I am utterly awed and charmed by the gorgeous, dramatically textured landscapes in the Suspensión series from Lima, Peru-based fiber artist Ana Teresa Barboza.

A wonderful departure from the many embroidery traditions where stitching is limited to only the fabric used for any given piece, Barboza’s work brings unexpected depth and whimsey to her obvious embroidery skills by expanding her art well beyond the bounds of the hoop. The imagination displayed in these pieces can’t help but make lovers of needlework smile!
