The Alchemy of Color Knitting: The Art and Technique of Mastering Exquisite Palettes by Gina Wilde
Do you ever step into a yarn shop and just “ooh” and “ahh” over all the colors but have a hard time deciding which colors to use for your knitting projects? Now you can learn more about color theory and knitting with help from this new book, The Alchemy of Color Knitting by Gina Wilde. The first section of the book starts off with the question, “What is Color?” Here, you’ll learn all about color theory, with a color wheel made of yarn! Wilde goes over primary, secondary, and tertiary colors as well as the relationship between colors. Get a better understanding how to group colors together to create warm or cool palettes, as well as split or double compliments. In addition to all the great lessons on color, the book has 25 knitting patterns where each project is prefaced with a related color study. Some of my favorite projects in the book are the Clematis Scarf (pictured on the cover), Cutaway Cardigan, and the Shibori Messenger Bag (both pictured below). The Alchemy of Knitting is a great resource to help you jump start color creativity in your knitting.
