Attention Dallas makers! Creative Contraption, an up-and-coming maker/artist space, is hosting their debut event tonight at Lee Harveys. If you’ve been looking for that perfect mix of art and tech, this sounds like an excellent group to be a part of:
About Us: Creative Contraption is dedicated to community collaboration and the creation of intersections between the arts, sciences and technology in the Dallas area. We are currently in process of creating interest, finding, and funding a physical space to support an infrastructure of passionate members in their artistic development and experimentation. We want to create a collaborative environment for people to explore creativity, learn new skills, and turn ideas into reality. We’re eagerly reaching out to the community with free events, gallery installations and hands-on workshops. In September of this year we were sponsored by The School Factory in Milwaukee, WI. We are now a fiscally sponsored 501(c)3.
About the Event: Creative Contraption is hosting an Interactive Extravaganza as our debut event and fundraiser this Thursday, November 11 at Lee Harvey’s, a prominent event space in Dallas, TX. It will be from 6pm-12am and the address is 1807 Gould St. We will have performances from local dancers, circus-type acts and musicians, coupled with hand-on projects such as LED throwies, theremin, screen printing, poi, painting, and knit graffiti. Large paintings created during the event will be displayed at a local gallery in January alongside a free workshop. With the awareness created by this event, along with the photos and film footage that will be taken of the event, we hope to start a Kickstarter to hopefully raise enough money to get a permanent location for our members to create projects of their own.
