Us moms always appreciate the macaroni-on-a-soup-can pencil holders, but here are some other good crafty gifts kids can make for the adults (and other kids) in their lives.

soap.jpg

Kaboose has instructions for making easy glycerin soap, and About.com shows how to make bars of soap with treasures inside.

bomb and balm.jpg

Teach Soap shows how to make bath bombs; Not Martha’s bath bombs are great, too! Not Martha also has great instructions for making lip balm, a great gift for cold weather.

jewel case frames.jpg

Kids Rooms and Crafts has a cute tabletop jewel-case picture frame project; Photojojo has instructions for wall-mounted jewel-case frames.

needlefelt template.jpg

I found these needle felting templates at My Handwork Studio – templates keep small fingers safer, though I would still be careful with younger kids – those needles hurt! You can also use cookie cutters as templates.

bookmark1a.jpg

Kids can get really creative with this basic beaded bookmark from About.com. You can use ribbon or jewelry cord, and whatever types of beads little fingers can handle.

books bound.jpg

American University has a gallery of easy bound books – they can be given blank or filled with photos, drawings, or stories.
