Introducing Trashion: Functional Recycled Art for the Masses
“Green living”, “sustainable” , “eco-conscious” & “trashion”? These environmental buzzwords are on everyone’s tongue these days, and if not they will be soon. Take “trashion” for instance. What is it? Simply put: Trash + Fashion = Trashion. Trashion doesn’t just stop at recycled clothing and accessories, however. Revamped home decor, repurposed paper goods. And it’s all functional, fashionable, and eco-friendly. One group of artists from all over the world has come together to bring you the best that trashion has to offer.
Calling themselves the Etsy Trashion Team, this group of over 70 artists who met via Etsy have joined together to spread the word about their recycled crafts. Member designs range from jewelry crafted from vintage beads to wearable art created from recycled clothing to journals made from old Scrabble boards.
On Friday, July 27th, we will be hosting a trunk show at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn NYC. (325 Gold Street, Brooklyn NYC. A/C/F to Jay St *B/M/Q/R to Dekalb) We will have recycled art, jewelry, clothing, home décor & more for sale, plus there will be trashion-themed films, make-your-own trashion activities and refreshments. The trunk show is FREE and open to all ages, plus the first 25 people through the door will receive a complimentary trashion team gift bag. Attendees are requested to RSVP via email at rsvp@etsy.com.
