The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…. There’s something very special and magical about a Christmas stocking. I’ve had the same one for my entire adult life. And I get a little rush of joy every year when I hang it as we read The Night Before Christmas. An elderly friend of our family knitted my son’s stocking when he was a baby and he still hangs it every year, even now at 28. This ritual and tradition really does embody the spirit of the holiday, of hearth and home, of enchanted memories of Christmas past.
Here are five of the stocking projects that we’ve published over the years. If you want to have any of these made by next week, you better slap on some holiday tunes, spike up the egg nog, and get to work. You don’t have much time.
