Crochet for Bears to Wear is the new crochet book by Amy O’Neill Houck. Today is the start of the official blog tour and we are so excited to be kicking it off! As a side note, I never realized until a couple weeks ago how expensive doll clothes are. In some cases, they are more expensive than clothes for my toddler Chloe! This book came just in time because not only can I have lots of little outfits for Chloe’s stuffed bears and rabbits, I’ll be able to enjoy some valuable crafting time. From crochet cardigans, dresses, vests, hats and more, I love that with each outfit I’ll be able to try out a variety of crochet stitches (seamless top-down, lace, ribbing, and more). Plus, with these small clothes, I can finish them in no time! The book features more than 20 patterns with instructions for each on how to measure and fit each outfit. It’s a great way for beginning crocheters to get started on crocheting clothing. I love the adorable photography in the book featuring the bears in special settings too. Not only will Chloe enjoy playing dress up with these beautiful outfits, I’ll also have the satisfaction that her “babies” will never grow out of them.

Cozy Turtleneck Pattern
As a special treat, we’ve got a pattern excerpt from the book! Crochet this cozy turtleneck for your little bear. Here’s Pearl wearing her favorite turtleneck and enjoying a cup of cocoa. The sideways ribbed texture gives extra warmth and stretch to the fabric. This sweater is worked modularly in one piece; the only finishing is crocheting the underarm and side seams.
