I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.

One of the world’s most iconic felines turns 35 this year. Sanrio, makers of Hello Kitty, have a funny little video up commemorating her anniversary colors and they’ve even put up a kitty35.com site. I remember being knee high to a grasshopper and not being able to get enough of her. Trips to the Sanrio shop were always dreamy. What amazes me about Hello Kitty in the crafting sense is how one little kitty has inspired so many different crafts. From our previous posts, check out how to make Hello Kitty cake pops and how to make a Hello Kitty mask for starters, and over on our sister site, makezine.com, check out the Hello Kitty power sander and the Hello Kitty power boost. Have you made any tributes to Miss Kitty?
